CWF is a brand that proposes bags as gear, suitable for outdoor activities such as camping and mountain climbing, and for use at home. Canyon Works in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture is developing and manufacturing the product. The company, formerly located in Namie Town, has been manufacturing outdoor bags and disaster preparedness supplies for government offices since 1976. However, it was damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011 and the accompanying nuclear power plant accident, and after temporarily operating in Gunma in July of the same year, it moved to Iwaki City in April 2014. CWF is the company's factory brand, and the "CW" in the brand name is the company's initials, and the "F" stands for Fukushima, Factory, and Freeuse.
The CWF project was started as part of the Fukushima Mirai Challenge Project, which was launched mainly by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Takatoshi Akutagawa (Thunderbird Design) will participate as creative director and will develop functional products incorporating various ideas.
